Contemporary Dining Tables Can Transform Dining Rooms Into a Modern Design
If you look at your dining room and find the same old dining table as the center piece of furniture that has been around for quite a long time, you may find the need to take it into consideration a great make over. Try to look for magazines or online sites that could give you inspired thoughts on how to transform contemporary dining tables into modern style dining sets.
Your dining table will be the main centerpiece of furniture that will attract people coming inside your dining room. You want to transform them into a more modern style and beautiful centerpiece of dining furniture. In order to make the make-over of your dining set perfect, you need to know the accent pieces to use in order to complement the room design and bring more life and substance into your furniture.
You can re-design your dining table into one that can make meal time a feast to look forward to. Buffet style design can be very attractive especially if you have some expected guests coming over. Although this may be a bit old fashioned, it can perfectly make any meal an attractive feast. You can add more storage area underneath the dining table. Make use of your China ware collections if you have any to make the table more beautiful that will give a theme of a contemporary collection of serving dishes that were passed through from one generation to the next.
You may want to buy new linens and table mats to make your dining set more presentable. It is very crucial that you get the right measurement before buying any table cloth covers to ensure a perfect fit. You also have to consider buying some new seat cover if you have a budget that will go along with the design you have in mind. If you have no extra money to spare, then use your initiative to be more creative.
Not only should you keep in mind how to make over your contemporary dining tables but you also have to consider other things that could help complement the beauty of your dining rooms. A beautiful chandelier lighting fixture can add more elegance in the room while a uniquely designed carpet may also complement the room's sophistication.
Whatever your choice make sure that your designs complement one another in order to help transform your dining room into a modern looking one.

Interior Design Tips - How to Decorate a Formal Dining Room
Dining spaces can be formal, casual, or a combination of both. Many traditional homes have both a formal dining room and an informal eat-in kitchen.
When planning for a remodel of this area, whether you're converting an existing space or adding on, consider:
The size of your family
The number of guests you typically invite to dinner parties
The types of occasions when you'll use the room.
The traffic flow and especially the proximity to the kitchen for serving meals.
These facts will help guide you in planning the size of your dining space, the layout, and the furniture you'll ultimately choose.
Your dining room is also a great space to store extra-large serving pieces that don't typically fit into your kitchen. Whether you incorporate built-in cabinetry or individual storage pieces, make sure to provide enough clearance for cabinet doors to open fully. When planning lighting, consider all the uses: dramatic enough for elegant dinner parties and bright enough for your kids' birthday parties.
10 Tips To Consider When Designing A More Formal Dining Room
Add character in your dining room by adding simple wood panels, moldings, or beams on your ceiling.
For a more traditional feel and layered look, install some paneled wainscoting and beefy crown molding around the perimeter of your room.
Increase the size of your baseboard by adding another piece of molding to the existing material to make it look chunkier and more substantial.
If you're lucky enough to have hardwood flooring beneath that old green carpeting, then simply re-finish and stain it in a deep rich tone.
When renovating your dining room, check the plans to make sure your existing furniture will fit back in to the new space.
Rectangular dining tables are best suited for rectangular dining rooms. If you need to seat 8 to 10 people, the recommended room size is a minimum of 10'6" x 15'.
Square dining spaces look fantastic with either square or round tables. Rounds are my personal favorite as they provide for a much more intimate dining experience. For 8 to 10 people, the recommended room size for an 8 ft. diameter table typically is an 18'6" square space.
Provide a focal point in the dining room either by enhancing an existing fireplace or creating a new vignette by introducing a beautiful hutch for storage, and flank your favorite piece of art above with a pair of colorful lamps.
Use a combination of light sources. In addition to a central fixture or chandelier, it's tremendously effective to add some recessed halogen light fixtures to highlight artwork, or any other key pieces-and your crystal and silverware will sparkle like diamonds.
Hang your chandelier anywhere from 36" to 42" from the tabletop (from the top of the table to the underside of the fixture). Keep the diameter of the fixture 9"- 12" smaller than the width of your table.

Basic Interior Design and Dining Room Furniture
There are some prerequisites you need to go through before you can select the dining room furniture that will suit your tastes and life style. It's important to remember that when you learn some basic interior design principles, implementing formal dining room designs that include the right furniture will be much easier. There are several aspects that need to come together to create a well-balanced room with a centerpiece that is carefully thought out and selected formal dining room furniture.
Balance
It doesn't matter what kind of room furniture you're looking for. Balance is that feeling of equilibrium that a room gives off regardless of which dining room chairs or formal dining table you've selected. There are several things that you need to consider what you're striving to create a balance and these include:
* Color. Too much of one color will throw the balance off and that's often the case with harsh strident colors as well.
* Pattern and Texture. It's important to keep in mind that patterns and textures are just as important as colors and on top of all the other features that you will need to consider to get the best formal room furniture, these are three things that you'll need to keep in mind.
Although there are three different kinds of balance that you need to concern yourself with, a symmetrical or formal balance is the one that most people consider when they're looking into formal room designs. In a symmetrical balance, one side of the room mirrors the other so that one side doesn't draw more attention than the other.
Here's a good example. After you look online and find that you like a contemporary dining room furniture set, when you get the pieces home and set them up in your dining room you can attain a formal balance by putting two chairs on each side if you have four altogether.
As you might have guessed one of the other kinds of balance is asymmetrical or informal. This means that the elements of the interior design are balanced without exact replication. As an example here, you might have three wall paintings on one side of a country dining room table and only one on the other.
Finally a radial balance is carried out when there is a central point to the room like a round dining table.

A Black Chandelier - Dining Room Design Considerations
There is a long history with dining and chandeliers. Even when chandeliers were only something that resembled a wagon wheel with candles on the spokes, people have loved having one in the dining room. This is a great tradition and I feel we should not abandon it. A black chandelier is a great way to both light and decorate your dining area.
If you are shopping for one, here are some helpful hints on getting the right one.
Home Lighting Styles In today's home lighting, its all about style. Each home has a unique style as well as each person, so your home should be no different than that. The important piece is to make certain the styles you choose compliment each other. A black chandelier for the dining room is fine, as long as it works with the rest of your home decor. For example, a pretty artsy pattern wallpaper may not feel right in a room with a black wrought iron chandelier. Sometimes, you can't quite put your finger on it, but you will know that something is just a little weird in a room decorated with flowered wallpaper and a black chandelier.
Things to Consider Before You Buy If you have decided to go with a chandelier, you will need to ask yourself a few questions before you buy. What is your ceiling height? Nine foot ceilings are tall enough for a two-tiered chandelier, but eight foot is not. Really, nine foot ceilings give you a lot more choices. You just want to be sure is is appropriate size for the room. You also have to consider how large the dining room table is. The chandelier should be quite a bit smaller than the table. It should probably be about 75% as big as the diameter of your dining room table.
Some Design Ideas The chandelier should never be your only lighting in the room. Planning for other lighting such as a table lamp with a nice glass lampshade, will greatly influence the total room package. A dimmer is also essential for a dining room chandelier. Dimming is important because most of the time, you will not want all that light. A floor lamp in the corner of the room can also make a great addition. Just make sure it is not too big as you want the chandelier to be the main lighting focus point. Wall scones, with their upward directed lighting, also work well in a dining room. In fact, chandeliers and wall sconces make a perfect pair of lights.
Whatever your design ideas, you can find a chandelier that works perfectly for you. A black chandelier in the dining room is both traditional and still very modern.
